Our approach

Balesh operates in Jordan and Egypt and aims to handle your data in line with Jordan's Personal Data Protection Law and Egypt's Data Protection Law. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We do not sell your personal data.

Data we collect (full inventory)

The categories of data we may process, what each is used for, and who it is shared with:

  • Identity and contact: name, email, country. Used to run your account and contact you. Linked to your identity.
  • Education and profile: university, major, graduation year, skills, interests, and links. Used to build your profile and match you to roles.
  • CV and application content: the CVs, answers, and cover notes you create or upload. Shown to employers you apply to.
  • Verification data: your GitHub identity when you verify evidence, used only to confirm the evidence is yours.
  • Employer and company data: company name, logo, listings, and team members, for employer accounts.
  • Payment data: purchases are handled by a payment processor certified to recognised industry security standards. We do not store full card details.
  • Usage and device data: a behavioural activity log (roles you view, search, and apply to) and basic technical data, used to operate, secure, and improve Balesh.
  • AI outputs: readiness and match scores and AI analyses we compute from the above.

We engage a limited number of carefully selected service providers to process data on our behalf and only on our documented instructions. Each is bound by contract to confidentiality and to data protection obligations no less protective than those we owe you, and none may use your data for its own purposes. These providers fall into the following categories: cloud infrastructure and database hosting, application hosting and content delivery, transactional email delivery, artificial intelligence processing, voice interview processing, and payment processing. Some are located outside your country of residence; see the section on where your data is processed below. Employers see your profile and application only when you apply to them. We do not otherwise disclose your data except where the law requires it or to establish or defend legal claims.

How we use it

To run your account, show you relevant internships, let you apply, compute your readiness and fit, and improve our matching and product. Aggregated trends that do not identify you individually (for example, the skills employers request most in each field) may inform features and insights.

AI processing

When you use AI features (the CV engine, the readiness and match scores, and the employer screening and Balesh Analysis), the relevant text is sent to our AI providers to generate the result. We send only what is needed for the feature and do not include unrelated personal data.

Our AI providers process this text under contract solely to return the feature's result; under our agreements with them, your inputs are not used to train their general models. AI outputs are estimates that can contain errors; for employers they are decision support only and do not make hiring decisions (see our Terms).

The optional voice interview practice uses a specialist voice provider to run the live call. Your spoken audio, the transcript, and your name are processed by that provider solely to conduct and score the practice interview, under the same contractual terms.

Where your data is processed

Balesh serves Jordan and Egypt and, like most modern digital services, runs on international cloud infrastructure. Your data is stored on servers located in the European Union, whose data protection framework is recognised as among the most protective in the world, and certain processing may take place in other jurisdictions where our service providers operate.

Wherever your data is processed, it remains subject to this policy and to contractual safeguards that hold every provider to standards consistent with the data protection laws of Jordan and Egypt. By creating an account and using Balesh, you acknowledge and, where applicable law requires it, expressly consent to your data being transferred to and processed in the locations described above for the purposes set out in this policy.

Your rights

You can access, correct, export, or delete your data, and you can object to or restrict certain processing. Deleting your account removes your profile and disassociates your activity log. Contact us to exercise any of these rights, or to complain to a competent data protection authority.

Retention

We keep your data while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards as required for legal and operational purposes, then delete or anonymise it.

Mobile app privacy labels

Balesh is currently a web service. If we offer a mobile app in the future, the data inventory above is the basis for the privacy disclosures required by the Apple App Store (App Privacy) and Google Play (Data Safety), and we will publish those labels alongside the app.
